It’s 1-0 for Huddersfield Town shirt bidder

A LEEDS United fan outbid rival supporters to buy a Terriers’ shirt at a charity auction.

The signed Huddersfield Town shirt was sold to John Spikings during an auction at the Old Colonial in Mirfield which raised £1,500 for Battyeford Sporting Club.

The shirt was worn by star striker Jordan Rhodes in that day’s game, but Mr Spikings, of Crossley Lane, bid higher than any Town fan.

He said: “My fiancée, Steph, just laughed and said it was a shame she wasn’t there to stop me.”

The shirt will be put to good use, as Mr Spikings has given it to his friend, John Pierre-Madigan.

Mr Pierre-Madigan, whose daughter has a rare illness, will sell it to raise money for other sufferers of her condition.
