Inquest opens into death of Dewsbury motorcyclist after Batley crash

An inquest opens this morning (Wednesday) into the death of a 23-year-old man following a motorcycle crash.

Qasim Rehman, of Pennine Road, Dewsbury, passed away in the early hours of Tuesday after a Honda motorbike collided with a grey BMW 530 car at the junction of Mount Street and Bradford Road in Batley.

Mr Rehman was treated by paramedics at the scene but pronounced dead shortly after.

Sgt Ann Drury, of West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who has either witnessed the collision itself or the manner of driving of either vehicle prior to the collision.”
