The five mile race starts at the Leggers Inn at Savile Town Wharf, Dewsbury, at 7pm on July 31.

All the runners will be wearing flat caps, and will pay £7 to take part, or £5 if they are a member of a running club.

A prize will be given to the runner who wears the best flat cap and money raised will then go to the four charities that are set to benefit from the Reporter Series Fund – Kirkwood Hospice, the Forget-Me-Not Children’s Hospice, grant-giving foundation One Community and Asthma UK.

Organiser Tony Audsley said: “We thought they were four good causes. It’s a good local event for local causes.”

The Flatcap 5 was held for the first time last year and raised £600 for charity.
