Hundreds hit by power cuts in Dewsbury

Northern Powergrid said 1,162 customers in the WF13 postcode had lost their electricity supply at around 10.10am.

Supplies were restored within 30 minutes, but the cause of the fault is still under investigation.

A further 57 customers were without power this afternoon after a fuse blew at a substation at around 12.50pm.

Homes and businesses affected included those in Ward Street and Kilburn Street.

Supplies were restored by 2pm.

A spokesman for the company apologised to customers affected for any inconvenience.
