The second phase questionnaire can be completed online, on paper copies in libraries and information points, or by e-mailing [email protected].

Subjects include adult social care, subsidies to sport and transport, and debt and housing advice.

This consultation runs until Friday December 5, with findings being reported to council on January 14.

The final budget will then be set by full council on February 18.

In Batley and Birstall, campaigns against the plans have been underway since they were first revealed.

Councillors for Birkenshaw, East Bierley and Birstall Robert Light, Liz Smaje and Andrew Palfreeman started a petition outside Birstall’s library.

This was enthusiastically taken up by the village’s traders, who have been collecting names in their shops.

David Sheard has said in the past that adult and child care funding are more important than other areas.
