Hospital volunteers ramp up the red for heart charity

The campaign, which runs throughout February, aims to help fund research into heart disease and raise awareness.

Hospital.

The 74-year-old knows firsthand how important the charity’s work is after suffering a blocked artery in her heart.

And since being treated by the hospital’s cardiac 
rehabilitation team, she helps run exercise classes for other patients

“I was very lucky not to have suffered a heart attack and on a scale of one to ten 
the pain I felt was about nine!” she said.

“Incidents like mine can stop you, but the team really built-up my confidence and made me realise you can do all the things you wanted to again.”

Elsewhere, staff at Asda in Dewsbury swapped their usual green uniforms for red last Friday.
They hosted a Ramp Up The Red lunch in the canteen, donated £1 for the chance to wear red, and raised £400 with a raffle and tombola in store.

The fundraising continues on Sunday when customer service desk member Kelly Dyson and her daughter Shannon host a bag pack for the campaign, 10am-4pm.
