Hooded men robbed Dewsbury shop at knifepoint

Two hooded robbers armed with a kitchen knife demanded cash and cigarettes from staff at a shop in Dewsbury.

The men entered the store on Staincliffe Road as it was being closed for the day on Thursday, January 21 at around 6.55pm.

One of the men pulled out a kitchen knife and demanded the contents of the till.

He went behind the counter and tipped the cash into an Asda bag for life.

He then helped himself to cigarettes and put them in the same bag, causing the handle to split.

Both men left the store and turned left onto Staincliffe Road.

The first man is described as being 5’8” - 5’9” tall, of stocky build and wearing a black hooded top or coat with the hood pulled over his face.

A scarf was tied around his face and nose. He was also thought to be wearing gloves.

The man spoke with a local accent and is thought to be white,

The second male is also described as 5’8”- 5’9” tall, of stocky build and wearing a hooded top with the top pulled up around the face.

He too had a scarf around the lower half of the face and nose.

Officers want to speak to the two men in connection with the incident.

They are also asking for witnesses to come forward.
