Homes plan for Thirsty Man pub in Mirfield

Quod Homes has applied to Kirklees Council for permission to develop at the site in Old Bank Road.

A design and access statement reads that owners Marston’s PLC decided the pub was “surplus to their requirements.”

The pub attracted negative attention in May 2013 when around 40 revellers smashed their glasses on a Friday night and continued to cause trouble outside after they were thrown out.

A brawl involving 10 people also erupted the following October.

Public consultation on the plans runs until Friday, September 2.
