Homes left with limited water after reservoir power outage

Homes were left with limited water supplies after a reservoir pumping station lost power.

Engineers from Yorkshire Water were called to the Staincliffe water pumping station after it lost power on Friday (May 20).

Some people in Dewsbury reported losing their water supply and having low pressure until the problem was fixed after two-and-a-half hours.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “We were notified Staincliffe water pumping station was temporarily down due to a loss of power on Friday evening but within two-and-a-half hours a local team of technicians ensured it was fixed and back up and running.

“We’d like to apologise to any local residents affected by low water pressure or loss of water during the period it was out of action and re-assure them that this should not happen again.”
