Holly Peters, of Commonside, Hanging Heaton, set up online wedding stationery company Made By Hol last September after rave reviews from friends.

She said: “It started when my friend got a quote from a company to create her wedding invitations that was really expensive. I thought ‘I could do that myself’ and I made her wedding invitations.

“Word got around, and after other people asked me to do wedding stationary for them, so I decided to set up my own business.”

Holly, an IT consultant, said she now gets calls from couples every day, and hopes that she will soon be able to concentrate full time on the business and expand its range of products and services.

“I have really big plans for the future of Made By Hol,” she said. “I want to be able to offer a one stop shop for couples who want items for their wedding.”

Although the business is still in its infancy, Holly is already no stranger to awards, and came first in an astonishing nine categories in this year’s Wedding Industry Experts awards.

She added: “I knew I always wanted to set up my own business, but I was never quite sure what I wanted it to be. It’s just great that, after 27 years, I seem to have found my calling in life.

“I know that I have never been more passionate about anything than this business.”

“Winning an award like this would be absolutely amazing.”

l We’ve extended the closing date for our business awards until Friday September 13.
