Healthcare deal open for bidding

The multi-million pound deal may see a change in the way some services are provided.

The majority of community services in Kirklees are currently run by private company Locala, but that could change when the current deal expires in September next year with other firms expected to bid for services.

A spokeswoman for Locala confirmed the organisation’s intention to bid for the contract once again.

In a statement, the company said: “Locala already works closely with partner organisations to deliver the existing contract and is continuing to develop existing and new partnerships as it prepares for the new bid.

“We, together with our partners, believe we are in a really strong position within this process, drawing on extensive expertise and experience. We are confident of success. It’s important to stress to the public that whatever the outcome of the tender community healthcare services will continue in Kirklees.”

A description of the contract, written by the Greater Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Group (GHCCG) and North Kirklees Clinical Commissioning Group (NKCCG) said: “The commissioning of community health care services across Kirklees will enable services to be designed to enable the development of outcome focused service specifications and greater transparency of quality standards and performance management against these targets.”

A decision on the deal is due to be made next Spring.
