NHS bosses have called a meeting to decide whether to proceed with a hospital shake-up which could leave Kirklees with no full A&E department.
They are planning to centralise emergency care in Halifax and downgrade Huddersfield’s A&E to an urgent care centre treating minor ailments.
Calderdale Royal Hospital would be expanded under the proposals, designed to tackle a £280m funding gap.
Huddersfield’s existing infirmary would be replaced with a smaller hospital for planned NHS procedures.
The meeting will be held on Thursday, October 20, at the Cedar Court, Ainley Top, Huddersfield, at 2pm.
No public questions will be allowed. For ticket information log on to www.greaterhuddersfieldccg.nhs.uk
From next April, Dewsbury’s A&E will also be downgraded under separate plans.
