Hadrian’s Wall no barrier for Ethan

Ethan Conboy, of Gomersal, has so far raised £385 for Kirkwood Hospice, Huddersfield, which provided end-of-life care to his uncle Patrick.

His family were by his side for the coast-to-coast walk, which began on Saturday May 24. They hoped to finish it in within six days of starting.

Dad Shaun said: “He knows this trek will be not be easy but is determined to complete the 86 miles over a six-day period.

“The entire family is extremely proud of Ethan.

“Everybody at Kirkwood Hospice was absolutely fantastic when they looked after my brother Patrick during his final days.

“They allowed us all to say goodbye properly to Pat and we will always be grateful for their wonderful care and support. Taking part in this trek in aid of the hospice is our way of saying thank you.”

A pupil at Birkenshaw’s BBG Academy, Ethan is also a scout, and a violinist with the Kirklees Music School.

Wasim Hussain, a fundraiser at the hospice, said: “We are so grateful to Ethan and his family for choosing to fundraise for the hospice in this way.

“We rely heavily on voluntary donations from the Kirklees community to provide our services to those who need them, completely free of charge.

“We simply could not do what we do without people like Ethan and his family.”

The hospice provides specialist treatment to those facing life-threatening illnesses.
