Old friends jointly celebrated the 30th anniversary of Birstall Age Concern Activity Group.
More than 40 pensioners enjoyed a buffet and drinks at the village’s Community Centre in Market Street on Tuesday.
Organiser Peter Noble, 88, of Bradford Road, Birstall, said the group’s purpose is to provide a warm and unthreatening environment where anyone over 50 will be warmly welcome.
His wife Marjorie, 84, added: “For some of the members, it’s the only time they get out and meet people. “We are self-financing, we don’t get any money from anywhere – the members are very generous.”
The group meet every Tuesday for professional entertainment, speakers, coach outings, buffet lunches and bingo.
“It’s very popular, and everybody is made so welcome,” said Marjorie.
