Golfers tee off for charity

EIGHT golf fans are preparing for the ultimate round when they take on a 24-hour charity challenge.

The Dewsbury and District Golf Club regulars tee off on their round-the-clock golfathon on Wednesday June 15.

The event has raised £3,000 for Cancer Research so far but the team hopes to push the total even higher.

Mark Colley, who lives in Shaw Cross, said: “It’s doing really well. We’ve had a lot of support from local businesses.

“We’re going to be outside the Co-op in Mirfield tomorrow getting sponsorship and selling raffle tickets. Our top prize is a two-day golf break worth £500.”

He said the players were also busy practising and had already tested their flashing golf balls with a night-time session.
