Globesign makes top 10

A Cleckheaton firm has been ranked one of the top 10 most profitable small and medium sized enterprises (SME) in Yorkshire.

Globesign, the parent company of Westex Carpets, has reached number nine in a Top 100 SMEs chart compiled by the Yorkshire Post.

Four companies from North Kirklees made it into the profitability index, which ranked SMEs from across the county according to their profit before taxation.

Globesign was bought out by Victoria plc last month for £16m.

The carpet manufacturer achieved a profit before tax of £3,665,000, according to accounts from February last year. Its turnover was £17,484,000.

Stainless steel fittings wholesaler MRC Flangefitt also made the top 100 list, which was compiled in conjunction with BHP Chartered Accountants.

The firm, also based in Cleckheaton, achieved pre-tax profits of £3,570,000 and turnover of £24,407,000, according to Companies House accounts from September 2012.

High Seat Holdings, of Dewsbury, climbed 23 places from its 2013 ranking with pre-tax profits of £1,972,000, reaching 61. Heckmondwike video security firm Vidcon PLC entered the list at number 77, with pre-tax profits of £1,828,000.
