Dewsbury firefighters used washing up liquid to release the girl, who was about seven, after she slipped and got her foot stuck in an uncovered gulley on Healds Road.
The girl had been trapped for about 20 minutes, but it took the fire crew less than ten minutes to free her. She was upset but unhurt by the incident.
