GCUK Paranormal Events, a firm which travels up and down the country seeking out spooky sites to explore, has booked in an event at a pub in Mirfield.

The Three Nuns in Leeds Road is well-known for its links to the other side, and in 2004 the pub was featured in an episode of ghost-hunting TV series Most Haunted.

Now Dewsbury-based GCUK is planning a ghost hunt to take place at the paranormal pub on Saturday February 16.

Company founder Jenny Bryant said: “We go all over the country and we have finally managed to secure the Three Nuns as a venue.

“We will be doing three events there this year.”

The event in February runs from 10.30pm until 3am and guests will be taken on a tour of the building, using nightvision cameras, electromagnetic field detectors and temperature guns to trace signs of paranormal activity.

GCUK has had its sights set on the pub, which used to be a nunnery and was built in 1931, for some time.

Mrs Bryant said: “The cellar underneath the building is just huge. There’s lots of little rooms and corridors to explore.”

Rumour has it that the pub’s supernatural goings-on started when a mysterious ram’s head was removed from it.

In the cellar, there is a rocking horse which, according to legend, will curse the town if it is taken out of the building.

Mrs Bryant said her mother-in-law worked as a cleaner at the Three Nuns, and found that cloths and other supplies would go missing without explanation when she left a room.

She said: “You get some people that are very sceptical, but most of them go away from our events believing.”
