Get back in the saddle with Sky Ride


The ride takes place on Sunday, May 8, from Crow Nest Park, in Dewsbury.
It will be an easy, traffic-free session along the greenway, river and canal paths to the south of Dewsbury town centre.

Hide AdThe free ride starts at 10am and participants should meet at the Park Café off Heckmondwike Road.
The gentle one-hour route will be suitable for anyone who has not cycled for a while and is looking for to get back in the saddle.
It is also intended be a confidence builder and provide a fun way to encourage friends or kids to start riding.
On Sunday, May 15, families are invited to join in with the third Tour de Roberttown, a 2.7mile community cycle ride around the village.

Hide AdAttendees are also being encouraged to bake a cake inspired by the event, which will be judged during the event.
Those who want to take part should meet in Commonside, Roberttown, at 11am.
It is estimated that more than two million spectators watched from the route of the second Tour de Yorkshire over the course of the weekend.
And organisers say the race will have generated at least £50m for the region’s economy.

Hide AdAfter Friday’s 185km first stage between Beverley and Settle, the elite cyclists raced 136km from Otley to Doncaster on Saturday.
The race culminated in a final 198km stretch between Middlesbrough and Scarborough on Sunday as the route wound through the North York Moors and picture-postcard seaside towns.
Welcome to Yorkshire chief Sir Gary Verity said: “It’s been a huge success with bigger crowds than we had last year.
“We built on last year’s event and have some thoughts that we will debate in the office this week.

Having a fourth day will have a massive impact.
“There is a lot more we can do.”
