Gamers raise charity cash

Four Mirfield schoolboys will take turns to complete a three day gaming marathon this weekend, all in the name of charity.

Toby Garside, 14, has organised the event with Jack Crowther, Cameron Tolson and Connor Fishwick.

They are raising money for Hollybank School in Hartshead, which looks after children with severe disabilities.

The challenge will begin at 11am tomorrow at Toby’s house in Fall Lane, Hartshead.

Toby has organised a rota so that there will always be at least two people playing their game of choice, Minecraft, until 11am on Tuesday.

Dad Jeremy Garside said: “Hollybank is just down the road from us and Toby’s mum has done some voluntary work there. Toby has been down and seen what they do.”

Toby ran a similar event last year, which raised £750. This time, he is hoping to raise £1000.

Mr Garside said: “I think it’s a great thing for him to do. I sometimes complain about the amount of time he spends in front of his computer screen, but this is a worthwhile cause.”
