One Community, which was set up in 2010 to encourage charitable giving, manages charitable funds used to benefit communities in Kirklees. Charity Streetbikes received a grant of £500 from the Davy Fund to help provide bicycle maintenance classes for children.

Streetbikes co-ordinator Gill Greaves said: “We have received funding through One Community for a number of projects now. And the fantastic support of the Davy Fund has allowed us to hold maintenance classes for children, enabling them to learn about the mechanical side of cycling, carry out basic checks and, importantly, to stay safe while out riding their bikes.”

The Davy Fund was established by Ken Davy, chairman of Huddersfield Giants and the SimplyBiz Group, with the aim of supporting youngsters undertaking sporting activities.

SimplyBiz finance director Sarah Turvey said: “The fund has made a positive difference to young people’s sporting endeavours across Kirklees, and that’s what we wanted to achieve when we established the fund.”
