Fun day in Batley in aid of Children's Heart Surgery Fund

The family of Alfie Holland, 6, have organised a packed day of family fun on Sunday, August 14, at Wilton Park in aid of children’s heart surgery at Leeds General Infirmary.

There will be appearances from kids’ favourite film and TV characters, including Spiderman, Transformers and the Ninja Turtles thanks to CPM Entertainers.

Face painting, donkey rides and a bouncy castle will also be held, along with 30 stalls, at the fun day from 10am-5pm.

There will be music from DJs AJ Johnson and Rich ‘Naughty’ North and majorettes’ performances at the park on Bradford Road.

Alfie’s mum Emma Brook said: “We are hoping it’s going to be a really big success. It’s a packed day.”

Six-year-old Alfie only has half of his heart functioning and has undergone major heart surgery six times, most recently last November.

He and his family have depended on the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit at Leeds General Infirmary throughout this life.

The August 14 fun day will be held in aid of Keeping the Beat, an appeal to raise £500,000 towards a new children’s heart theatre at the Leeds hospital.
