In a scrappy encounter, Leeds took the lead on the stroke of half time, summer signing David Norris showed tremendous skill to turn smartly and thunder an unstoppable shot beyond Ben Hamer.

But the Addicks made sure that the Whites’ midweek woes continued, as Dorian Dervite fired a low shot past Paddy Kenny shortly after the restart.

Despite El Hadji Diouf showing his usual trickery, Leeds were below par, and a season-worst 17,484 fans witnessed Charlton having the better of the late exchanges, with Kenny producing a string of fine saves to rescue a point.

The draw leaves Leeds just a point outside the playoff zone.

George Boyd proved to be the hero at London Road, as Huddersfield Town suffered a shock away-defeat at bottom-placed Peterborough. The striker scored twice to earn the Posh their first home points of the season.

Town, who kept the starting eleven from Saturday’s impressive victory over Wolves, were not at the races in a game Peterborough dominated, and Boyd’s second was a stroke of genius, as he lobbed Terriers’ keeper Alex Smithies from 45 yards. Youngster Kgosi Ntlhe headed his first senior goal shortly after the restart to hammer the final nail in the coffin for town.

Substitute Adam Hammill pulled one back for the Terriers, but there was no way through a resolute Peterborough backline as they slowed down the game and nullified Town’s attacking threat.

Despite the defeat, Town remain firmly in the promotion race in 6th place.

Nahki Wells scored his 10th goal of the season to send Bradford City on their way to only their second away win of the season as the Bantams close in on the automatic promotion spots.

With five of their next six games away from home, much had been said about City’s need to improve upon their away form, and Phil Parkinson’s men did not disappoint. A dominant performance against a strong Northampton Town side saw the Bantams rewarded on 53 minutes, as the little Bermudan got on the end of a James Hanson knock-down to poke the ball past the Northampton goalkeeper to reach double figures for the season. Northampton failed to pose too many problems for city, with Andrew Davies in particular impressing, nullifying the threat of Northampton’s giant forward Ade Akinfenwa.

Bradford had chances to extend their lead, as chances for Forsyth, Wells and Hanson failed to find the net, but an ecstatic Phil Parkinson will take confidence from the 1-0 victory into the Burton Albion game this Saturday.
