Leeds United manager Neil Warnock is hoping for sparks this evening against Gus Poyet’s Brighton side.

For the second season in a row, the whites’ clash with the Seagulls has been moved to a Friday night to be shown live on television, and the boss is hoping that it proves to be the perfect stage for his team to finally click after their midweek cup heroics against Southampton.

Speaking to the club’s official website, Warnock said: “We haven’t had a spark for whatever reason. The Charlton one was the disappointing one. Against Sheffield Wednesday we came back well, got a good point, and maybe had it not been for other things that went on, we could have won it.

“There was a lot of tiredness after the Southampton game, but we’ll give it our best shot at Brighton and look to come away with a positive result.”

Leeds fell to 11th in the league after losing to Birmingham but would climb into the top six with a victory over Brighton.

Huddersfield Town have the prefect opportunity to nip their recent poor form in the bud, with tomorrow’s visit of strugglers Bristol City.

Town were outgunned at Millwall last week, as the east-Londoners ran out convincing 4-0 winners at the New Den, and midfielder Adam Clayton has stressed the importance of a quick comeback.

He said: “Hopefully we are able to do the same as we did the last time when we had a couple of dodgy results.

“It was the opposite last time in that we were winning away but struggling at home, but we’ll take the game as it comes and hopefully get the three points.”

The Robins occupy second bottom place, and have only collected two points from their last seven games and Town would be back in the playoff pack should they beat them.

Following on from Bradford City’s astonishing cup win over Premier League Wigan, manager Phil Parkinson has had to come back down to earth with a bump, as he faces a lengthy injury-list for tomorrow’s FA Cup trip to Northampton Town.

Defensive stalwarts Andrew Davies and Luke Oliver suffered long-term injuries at Burton Albion last weekend, joining winger Kyel Reid in the treatment room, while the club decided not to contest Ricky Ravenhill’s dubious red card last weekend, meaning that City will also be without their captain for the round one clash.

Better news for the Bantams comes in the form of tenacious midfielder Gary Jones, as he continues on the comeback trail from injury, and is in contention for a starting berth against Aidy Boothroyd’s side, while 10-goal Nahki Wells’s hamstring injury against Wigan is not as serious as first feared.
