BARNSLEY boss Danny Wilson has not given up hope of finalising a deal for former Stoke and Sunderland winger Liam Lawrence.

Lawrence had been training with the Barnsley squad until travelling back to Greece recently, yet Wilson said of the midfielder: “He’s the type of character we’re looking for. He’s a leader and a very good player.”

Leaving Oakwell could be Jason Scotland, who is attracting interest from Hibernian manager Terry Butcher, with Scotland saying he fancies moving back north of the border after spells earlier in his career at Dundee United and St. Johnstone.

Aaron McLean is still the first choice for BRADFORD CITY to replace the recently-departed Nahki Wells.

Whether it being McLean or another striker, the club are confident that they will have their man in time for Saturday’s game against Sheffield United.

A striker who will most likely not be taking signing for the Bantams is Rhys Murphy, who reportedly is not in a hurry to leave London.

Murphy who is currently in the first-year of his contract at Dagenham and Redbridge and has caught the eye this season by firing in 12 goals this term.
