Fitting tribute to stalwart Maurice

Birstall in Bloom volunteers have created a garden in memory of original member Maurice Foster, who died suddenly last year.

Maurice requested that donations at his funeral be left to the group, who have used the money to spruce up a former ‘grot spot’ at the top of Bond Street and transform it into an attractive plot.

The garden includes a memorial plaque.

Pictured unveiling the tribute are Maurice’s two daughters and his grandchildren with Birstall in Bloom organiser Joanna Cooney.

“His family are delighted,” said Joanna.
