Firemen retrieve dog after she vanishes down rabbit hole

A dog owner has thanked fire officers after they managed to retrieve her dachshund, who had somehow disappeared down a rabbit hole.

Nicola Linfield praised the technical rescue team from Cleckheaton Fire Station after they quite literally had to dig four year-old Lulu out of a hole.

It took three hours of spadework to finally locate Lulu, who vanished from sight while out walking with her onwer in woodland near Billing View in Rawdon, Leeds.

Nicola, who turned 49 on the day of the rescue, said: “The firefighters worked so hard. It was pouring down with rain.

“When she came out I cried. It’s the best birthday present I have had. I’m so flabbergasted that they have gone to such a length and the work that they put in - the physical hard work - was incredible.”
