News of the brigade’s achievement coincides with the release of the official West Yorkshire Firefighters charity calendar 2015, Red Hot Dates.

The calendar, now in its sixth year, has made a significant contribution to The Fire Fighters Charity.

Charity supporter and station commander Dom Furby said: “This fantastic amount has been achieved by the support of firefighters on stations but also the support of the local communities who have attended events and given generously.”

The money has been raised through a host of fundraisers including a summer gala, car washes and open days held at stations across the county.

During 2013, the charity helped 173 people linked to the county’s fire and rescue service including serving and retired firefighters.
