West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is counting down to Christmas with an advent calendar-style safety drive.
The fun and festive fire safety tips are aimed at everyone from homeowners to retailers and will give advice on everything from fairy light safety to preventing a kitchen calamity.
The brigade is issuing video messages as well as supporting West Yorkshire Police’s It’s not worth the risk drink drive crackdown.
The first video message is aimed at retailers and gives advice on fire safety with the increased footfall they will be expecting.
Ian Bitcon, area manager for fire safety, said: “It’s difficult to believe that December is already upon us and Christmas is just around the corner.
“We really want everyone to have an enjoyable festive season and we hope our top tips will act as timely little reminders to help keep everyone safe.
“In the lead up to Christmas, the flurry of activity means we all just need to be a little bit more aware to help keep our loved ones and ourselves safe.”
