Fire crews rushed to M62 car blaze

Firefighters rushed to a car engine fire on the M62 today (Wednesday).

Crews from Cleckheaton and Morley tackled the one-vechile fire at junction 27 of the motorway after being called at 12.42.

Cleckheaton watch commander Anthony Devine said: “A man has got out to investigate and by the time he has phoned us, the complete engine was fully involved in fire.”

It took the crews about 10 minutes to extinguish the vehicle and nobody was injured.

The source of the problem was an engine fault.

Mr Devine also stressed the importance of not “rubber necking” while driving, which can cause accidents.
