Courageous locals Nathan Shaw, Leigh Scott, Lee Oldroyd, Gareth Knowles and Craig Armitage will take the challenge and endure everything from a back and chest tidy-up to a full body wax.

The fearless five have already raised hundreds ahead of the waxing, which will take place at The Vibe salon in Mirfield on Sunday.

The event was organised by salon owners Amanda Pollard and Natasha Laycock, with charity founder Rachael Shaw.

Mrs Shaw, of St Pulinus Close, Westtown, set up Eden’s Trust in memory of her 11-year-old daughter who died from cancer in 2008.

It supports Candlelighters and Children with Cancer, so far raising more than £10,000.

Mrs Shaw, said: “I can’t wait. It’s running from 4pm until 6pm and anyone is welcome to come along on the day.

“When Amanda and Natasha opened their own salon they wanted to do something for charity and I’m glad they chose my charity.

“Leigh is having his back waxed and Lee is going to do his chest. Nathan, Craig and Gareth are having full body waxes – they’re very brave!”

Last year, Mrs Shaw took part in a sponsored spin at Dewsbury Asda, raising more than £1,000 for the Trust.

She took on the cycling challenge with friend Clara Moore, and some shoppers even got on the bikes for a go themselves.

But Mrs Shaw has no plans to stop there and is already busy organising more fundraising events to be held later this year.

She said: “On April 6, we are having an eight hour sponsored spin at Dewsbury Asda along with Hannah Hudson from Dewsbury Sports Centre.

“Then on May 19, we are having a three-hour spinathon at the sports centre and centre manager Alex Mellor will be helping out.

“Also, we are planning a cycle ride from London to Paris either this or next July.”

Anyone who wants to sponsor the five waxing volunteers can make a donation via the JustGiving website at www.justgiving.com/Nathan-Shaw1 or call in to the salon in Nab Lane on Sunday.
