The old Dewsbury Reporter office could be turned into flats.
Leeds-based Alfa Dwellings Limited has submitted an application to Kirklees Council to change the use from offices to accommodation.
It wants to turn the distinctive Wellington Road building into 10 flats.
There would be two one-bedroom flats in the ground floor, three one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom flat on the first floor, and two one-bedroom flats and two two-bedroom flat on the second floor.
Public consultation on the plans runs until April 17.
The building was sold at auction in January to Leeds Vu Limited.
