Famous former goth club to open for one night only

Stalwarts of Batley’s goth scene in the 1980s will rejoice at the news that a legendary nightclub is set for a comeback.

The Xclusiv nightclub was once the place to be in Batley and, after a successful one-nighter last month, the club is set to reopen again, playing an array of tunes from the 80s to delight revellers.

Tappd Events had re-opened the Xclusiv Nightclub on January 31 for a one off night’ named The Takeover. But, due to success of the night, the club will re-open again on Saturday March 7.

Organiser Dominic Riordan said: “We only reopened the upper floor on the 31st and had indie music which seemed a success, but there were a number of requests for 80s music – the likes of Madonna, Bryan Adams and Journey.

“So while we will be doing indie on the upper floor again, due to the demand we have decided to renovate and open a new bottom floor and dedicate that to 80s and 90s pop. Song requests on the night are encouraged!”

The club’s 1980s heyday saw goths and punks from across the north of England. A television documentary was even made on the club in 1984, and can be viewed on Youtube.

Tickets for The Takeover, which runs from 10pm-3am, are £5 or £4 with a flyer from neighbouring Cellar Bar. Search Tappd Events on Facebook for more information.
