Family’s thanks for £50,000 raised in Isabella’s memory

Isabella Grace Senior died in February after she developed bronchiolitis, an inflammation of the smallest airways in the lungs.

In October, her parents, Ryan and Lyndsey Senior launched a campaign hope to raise awareness of the condition and funds for hospital equipment.

Now they have hit their target of £50,000 which will be used to buy a life support machine and Cot Bed for Leeds General Infirmary, where Isabella was treated.

Mr Senior, 30, said: “The support that we have received since tragically losing Isabella in February this year has been both very heartwarming and overwhelming.”

To raise the money, Mr and Mrs Senior contacted businesses across the country to ask for prizes and donations.

One store which showed support was Hamleys Toy Shop in London, which held a sale for the Isabella Grace Fund that raised more than £500. Others have donated through the fund’s website, www.isabellagrace.org.uk.

An event held last month at the Frontier Variety Club in Batley finally pushed the couple over their fundraising target. With performances by hypnotist Grant Saunders and comedian Billy Pearce, the event raised more than £14,000.

Mr Senior, a member of Hanging Heaton Cricket Club, said: “The evening was emotional for Lyndsey and I for two reasons. Isabella’s first birthday of November 26 was quickly approaching us and we knew we were close to one of our aims.

“On the evening we were able to announce that in under seven months of fundraising and raising the awareness of bronchiolitis and respiratory syncytial virus that we had shattered our £50,000 target.”

The Seniors, who are expecting a new baby in February, will have an event to unveil the hospital equipment soon.
