Exhibition inspires mini artists

Children have been inspired by an art exhibition to create their own mini masterpieces.

The Creative Arts Hubs in Huddersfield Road has hosted pupils from a variety of local schools for workshops ran around its current exhibition, Chatting with the Fauna, by Holmfirth artist Fabric Lenny.

The exhibition includes new drawings, paintings, prints and animations, together with a series of paintings made in collaboration with American artist Jonathan Grauel. It also features a specially commissioned vinyl window installation, and artwork created by the children is on display.

Artistic Director Mark Milnes said: “The images have great impact in the gallery space. The project is something we’re really proud to be part of – particularly as the workshop element of it has potential for a lasting effect on those who take part.

“You can see straight away that the children are energised and inspired by Fabric Lenny’s work, and they’ve produced some stunning work at the sessions.” Pupils from Crossley Fields, Old Bank, Battyeford and Gomersal primaries have taken part, and the workshops have been coordinated by teacher Natalie Deane from Battyeford Primary.

The exhibition runs until March 8.
