Elderly man died after suffering heart attack at the wheel

An elderly man died at the scene of a crash in Thornhill Lees last week.

The 89-year-old is believed to have suffered a heart attack at the wheel of his Vauxhall Corsa at around 11am on Friday 17.

The man ploughed crashed in Lees Hall Road near the junction with Slaithwaite Road.

No other cars were involved.

Passers-by ran to the scene and attempted emergency resuscitation on the man, but he died at the scene.

Firefighters and paramedics were also on the scene.

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance was called but was not required.
