Elderly couple cut free after crashing into a lamp post
An elderly couple were pulled from their car by firefighters after they smashed into a lamp post just off the M1 this morning (Saturday).
The pair were coming off the slip road at junction 39 near the Cedar Court Hotel around 2.30am before they lost control of the vehicle.
They hit a lamp post, causing severe front end damage to the car and trapping them inside.
A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesman said the pair were taken to hospital, but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The car blocked both lanes and the road was closed until around 4am.
