Drug dealer sold cannabis to undercover police officers
Darion Dawson, 22, of Upper Barker Street, Liversedge, appeared at Leeds Crown Court today (Tuesday) after pleading guilty to four counts of possessing a class B drug with intent to supply.
The court heard Dawson was arrested by officers as part of Operation Overwood, which targeted drug dealers in Kirklees.

“One of the officers asked a group of men if they knew anyone who sold decent weed,” he said. “Dawson came forward and invited them to his home.”
He sold the officers 1.84g of cannabis for £20 and gave them his number telling them to call if they wanted more drugs.
The pair returned to the takeaway and bought 5.40g of cannabis from Dawson for £50 in December 18 last year.

He was arrested at his home on June 5 this year when police seized cannabis, scales and £70.
Mr Bull said Dawson bought the drugs in bulk and sold them to fund his own habit.
The court heard Dawson, who was working part-time as a cleaner, had stopped smoking cannabis for five days.

Dawson was given an eight month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, with a nine month drug rehabilitation requirement.
He was ordered to pay £80 victim surcharge.
Sentencing Dawson, Judge Penelope Belcher said the court viewed the supply of drugs as a very serious offence and there was evidence to show cannabis can have serious long term effects.
