She was over the drink drive limit and was travelling at around 69mph at the time.

The court heard she had been chasing her boyfriend, who was travelling in a car in front of her, after he had just ended their relationship.

Mr Codling, of Periwood Avenue, Millhouses, died at the scene.

Sentencing Egan, Recorder of Sheffield Judge Julian Goose said: “No order or sentence will bring back the life of the deceased.

“Death by dangerous driving is aggravated in your case by the fact that at the time you were over the limit and were in pursuit of another vehicle while travelling at excessive speed.

“You left the scene when you knew what you had done. There was no reporting of the accident by you.”

Egan was banned from driving for six years.
