Year seven pupils at Westborough High School joined professionals for the sessions as part of their studies on the history and culture of Africa.

Extended learning co-ordinator Gayna Goalby said: “They looked at what it was like in an African village, what is was like to be transported on a ship and the kind of things they would have to do.

The theatre is working with Westborough and other schools in the area as part of a two-year community programme.
