A survey of 1,000 adults revealed that 94 per cent of dog owners say their pet makes them happier - with 63 per cent saying a dog makes them physically fitter and 40 per cent saying a dog makes them feel less stressed.
Half of those who owned dogs (50 per cent) said their pet pooch understands them more than anyone else.
The research also revealed that dogs are the nation’s favourite pets with 61 per cent of adults saying a dog would be their top choice of pet ahead of cats (23 per cent), fish (four per cent), horses (three per cent) and birds (two per cent).
Now, to celebrate man’s best friend, 20 uniquely different dogs star in a new film narrated by Harry Potter actor Sir Michael Gambon.
The film is a pastiche of the iconic 1997 ‘Think Different’ ad by Apple, but with human thinkers such as John Lennon and Albert Einstein replaced by canine characters.
The ‘Feed Different’ film was made by BAFTA-nominated Gary Tarn for tails.com, a new company that tailor-makes food for a dog’s unique nutritional and dietary needs, and which commissioned the survey.
