Do you recognise this man?

This is the man detectives want to track down after the theft of a number of high-value boat engines.

Thieves stole 23 specialist boat motors, propellers, starter motors and alternators during a targeted burglary at West End Marine (Batley) Limited, off Brookroyd Lane in Birstall.

After breaking into a workshop, they used owner Sam Al-Kazhraji’s forklift truck to steal the items.

Mr Al-Kazhraji, who lives in Wakefield, offered a £10,000 reward to anyone who could help find the culprits after the burglary on January 14.

Police said the suspect, pictured, was in his late 20s, around 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins, and of Asian descent. He has a long nose and small beard.

Det Con James Cooper, of Kirklees CID, said: “We don’t believe this was a random burglary. The engines are worth a lot of money and we believe the establishment was targeted because of what was in the premises.

“We have put together the e-fit to see if anyone recognises the man pictured. If you do please get in contact.

“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on that night to get in contact. I would also appeal to anyone with an interest in boats to be on the look out too.

“If you are offered a boat engine or engines for sale in a deal that ‘sounds too good to be true’ then it probably is.”

Anyone with information should phone Kirklees CID on 101.
