The West Riding at Dewsbury Railway Station is marking the milestone by serving up four ales that were on the pumps when it first opened alongside three brewed specially for them.

And yesterday evening regulars and guests enjoyed a buffet, a free pint and drinks at 1994 prices.

Jim Ibeson, who has worked behind the bar for seven years, said: “We asked around a few breweries to see if they fancied brewing something special for us.

“Great Heck Brewing Company asked if we wanted to come along to help brew it and we jumped at the opportunity.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever done it, but it’s something I’ve wanted to get into. It was really interesting.”

Mr Ibeson and his colleague Adam Byrne helped create 20 Year Pale.

The hoppy, fruity ale went on the pumps this week alongside Red Riding from The Brew Company and West Riding 20th, an IPA brewed by the Fernandes Brewery in Wakefield for the occasion.

Mr Ibeson said: “The 20 Year Pale has gone down really well. We went through two full barrels last night – there’s only two left.”

The celebrations continue tomorrow with live music from Eric The Viaduct and others from 8pm.
