A budding performer from Dewsbury has swept the board at two local arts festivals. Helen Khan, 11, beat 14 other entrants to win the solo singing class at Mrs Sunderland’s Festival in Huddersfield, and came second and third in the poetry and prepared reading categories, which each attracted over 30 entries. She also won the solo singing contest at the Robertshaw Festival in Bingley. Helen attends Stage 84 in Bradford, where she is coached in drama and singing as well as dancing to boost her chances of a career on stage. She is pictured with her recent haul of trophies and certificates.
