Dewsbury gets set for tonight’s free outdoor show Spirit

Spanish theatre company Sarruga will perform their underwater-themed show Peixos during Spirit 2012.

Thousands of visitors are expected to pour into the town centre for the event, which is funded by Kirklees Council.

Sarruga’s team were joined by a local crew at Dewsbury Town Hall this morning to start work.

They have been building bikes which will transport shoals of mechanical fish, jellyfish and a shark through the crowds during an illuminated procession.

Portable sound systems will also be peddled along the route from Longcauseway via Crackenedge Lane, Whitehall Way, Northgate to Market Place and the town hall.

The show starts at 7.30pm and will finish at around 8.15pm with fireworks.
