A FUNDRAISER to help a little boy with leukemia go to Disneyworld has had a boost from a sporting hero.

Dewsbury boxing champion Gary Sykes called in to the Child’s Play Nursery, Thornhill Road, to present a pair of signed boxing gloves for the nursery’s charity raffle on Saturday.

Kicking off with a charity football match at Crawshaw Street playing fields, Ravensthorpe, at 2pm, the fun day will continue at the Bull’s Head pub with a barbecue, bouncy castle, tombola, raffle, charity auction and more.

Fundraisers hope to send four-year-old Harrison Moore, who attends the nursery, to go see Mickey Mouse at Florida’s Disneyworld resort and donate to the Candlelighters cancer charity.

Harrison will have to get through years of gruelling treatment for leukaemia after being diagnosed two years ago.

Mum Louise Stenchion has been overwhelmed by the nursery’s efforts.

She said: “We believe he will be okay. But the fear is at the back of your mind all the time.”
