Dealer threw drugs out of window in raid

A DRUG dealer threw bags of heroin and cocaine from an attic window as police raided his home.

Six months later, while on bail for the drugs charges, Mohsin Ismail Patel stole his brother’s car and crashed it in a high-speed police chase.

Patel, of Batley Carr, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years’ imprisonment at Leeds Crown Court.

In January last year, officers carried out a search warrant at his Warwick Road home only to find him throwing bags of drugs from the attic window.

Officers found 51g of cocaine, worth £3,987, 39g of nine per cent proof heroin, worth £1,970, and £3,000 in cash.

Patel, 23, admitted £1,000 of the £3,000 cash was raised by selling the Class A substances, but said the rest belonged to his brother.

While on bail for the drugs offences, Patel stole his brother’s Volkswagen car on June 21, and hit speeds of almost 90mph trying to out-run police.

Mitigating, Ricky Holland produced references for Patel and said there was ‘another side that other people see to this young man’.

Sentencing, Recorder Richard Woolfall said: “Anyone who gets involved with the supply of Class A drugs can expect a substantial custodial sentence.”
