Thieves targeted a woman and made off with her handbag as she walked away from a cash machine in broad daylight.

The 37-year-old was approached by two Asian males as she left the machine at High Street Westtown in Dewsbury between 5.15pm and 5.20pm yesterday evening (May 26).

They grabbed her hand bag, containing her purse and mobile phone, before fleeing the scene.

A police spokesman said: “It appears they both had a grab at her handbag and managed to get it from her and took it away.”

The woman was taken to hospital to be checked over and is believed to have minor injuries to her elbow.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the incident.

He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The suspects are described as two Asian men.

The first was in his early 20s and around 5ft 5in tall, slim and he had a short goatee beard. He was wearing a black hooded top and white trainers.

The second man was wearing a brown hooded top and is thought to be of a similar age.
