Day for Ross was fantastic
Ross Wood, 22, died two days after he was attacked while on a night out in Mirfield on November 19, 2007.
Mum Sam said: “Every year we have had a get-together for Ross’s anniversary at Mirfield Cricket Club.

Ross played for Huddersfield Town’s junior academy, was youth captain for Ossett Town and also played for Horbury Town and was captain of Mirfield Town.
Sunday’s five-a-side tournament proved to be a tremendous success, with more than 300 people attending.
“It was fantastic,” said Sam. “So many people wanted to take part. My brother put on his boots again for the first time in about 15 years and Ross’s nephew, Jayden, had Ross’s name on his shirt.

“The get-togethers have really helped the family and this was extra special.”
Ten teams competed to win a trophy donated by the Kip McGrath Education Centre in Heckmondwike. The prize was eventually scooped by Mirfield Town’s reserve squad.
The event was organised by Mirfield Town manager Gordon Young and a minute’s silence was held before the first match.

“There were players from many of the local football teams that knew him, and a lot of his friends and relatives.
“I think Sam thought it was a wonderful tribute.”
