Officers have since released the above CCTV image from the Cleckheaton chase, which was captured on the dashboard camera of a police car.

PC Victoria Catania, from the Kirklees District Burglary Team, said: “Police signalled the vehicle, which was a silver coloured VW Golf, to stop as it travelled in Bradford Road, Cleckheaton in the early hours of Monday morning.”

“The vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit began in which a number of items were thrown from the golf including crow bars and towing straps which damaged the police vehicle.

“A short time after the pursuit began the vehicle was abandoned in a field off Moorside Road in Drighlington with four men fleeing the area on foot.”

The golf is believed to have been stolen during a burglary in Leeds on March 3.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured is asked to contact the Kirklees District Burglary Team on 101, quoting the crime reference number 13150115532.
